Showroom Map Kiosk

Enliven Housing

Enliven Housing—a registered specialist disability accommodation provider—asked us to help them create a more inviting, interactive experience for their retail display space that could also help them better leverage their existing marketing material. While they originally expected to use freestanding kiosks to meet this goal, the scale of their showroom allowed us to instead use a large-format wall-mounted 55" 4K multitouch touch-screen.

We partnered with our sister company Studio IQ to develop a custom kiosk app to display Enliven Housing’s projects as pins on an animated world map. When not in use the map automatically flies between the various locations but at any time visitors or sales representatives can interrupt the animation to explore their locations more deliberately by region, or to discuss local amenities. When required, the app can also open the relevant pages on the company’s website to allow users to explore videos and image galleries about the project.

As disability specialists it was especially important that the kiosk remained accessible to those with disabilities despite its size. With this in mind, the app was deliberately designed to ensure the interface could be fully operated even by those with limited vertical reach (such as wheelchair users), placing buttons along the bottom of the screen, and allowing the full-screen map view to be navigated from any part of the screen.

I approached IQ with just a concept, a concept that had never been trialled in the disability sector. I found their approach brought our ideas to life and exceeded the expectations of my team. They worked within our limitations and yet still delivered a product that occupies our display space in Sydney 24 months after inception. Incorporating a kiosk onto our display room showroom has been a strategic masterstroke and one we are continuously praised for by participants and sector professionals. I look forward to partnering with IQ on our second kiosk for our new Melbourne office later in 2023.
